Truly direct from Farm to You
A key ingredient in exceptional coffee is altitude.
Finca El Robledal is located at over 6,000 feet in altitude in the foothills of the Andes Mountain Range of Colombia. A most picturesque setting with the majestic 15,000 foot volcano Purace only 20 miles away. This volcano has undoubtedly contributed to incredible soil conditions we enjoy at El Robledal.
Altitude is a two edged sword when it comes to coffee production. On the one hand the lower oxygen environment yields a denser bean where the maturation period is 25% longer allowing flavors more time to develop but a lower overall production. From flower to harvest is around 10 months verses 8 months at lower elevation where other coffee is grown.
The downside is that production is much more difficult and volume significantly decreased. But at the end of the day quality always wins out over quantity.
